As a bit of a challenge, Ian Lopez is going to be trying to complete one 3D model per week, for the duration of his Diploma of Animation (Advanced) class in Auckland (he’s the tutor). He is challenging anyone to take part.
Ian’s own entries are themed around a series of books he is reading at the moment called “The Wheel of Time“. For inspiration, he is drawing upon some artwork done for the graphic novel adaptation of the same series (see image), but he won’t be using the art as an exact reference, just as a general starting point.

His Week #1 entry is the main character, Rand Al’thor.
Day 1: Overall, not a bad start, I’ve got the upper body roughed out, with the muscles starting to take shape, and the start of the legs. Basic box modelling for both pieces of geometry, and I only modelled the one side and mirrored it across.
