YOOBEE @Natcoll Industry Advisory Board

The Industry Advisory Board comprises of a number of well regarded members of the digital media industries and general business community who provide strategic vision, guidance and advice to YOOBEE @Natcoll. This helps us in our attempts to ensure its curriculum continues to align with the needs of the digital media industries.

Current Board members

Hugh Derham
Hugh was one of the original founders of Natcoll. He now runs his own company Creative Family, which specialises in the design and production of visually rich learning resources for use in blended learning environments. Creative Family also specialises in photography and the large format production of these photographic images. Creative Family is currently a preferred supplier of the design of educational resources for the State Services Commission. www.creativefamily.co.nz

Phillip Sunderland
Phillip is Managing Director of Q Brand Agency. Q was established in 1994 and specialises in advertising, internet, marketing and design. Phillip started working for large agencies in Wellington (Mojo/FCB) before moving to Christchurch with Saatchi & Saatchi. Phillip heads up the strategic side of the business, with the team focussing on award winning campaigns for a variety of clients throughout Australasia. www.qbrandagency.com

Patrick Howard
Patrick is a Director of The Web Company, established in 2003. His company delivers customised web business solutions that are specifically designed for the client based on in-depth analysis. Prior to The Web Company, Patrick developed several other businesses from 'break even' to 'break away success'. He has been a strong supporter of YOOBEE @Natcoll, employing graduates because of their strong, practical skills - "those that are of value in the workplace".  www.thewebco.co.nz

Paul Fairbairn
Paul is the founding director of Imagic, a Christchurch based creative communications agency. Imagic was launched in 1994 and was one of the first South Island agencies to fully embrace the web and digital media as an important channel in the media mix for marketing today. Paul is currently Imagic's Managing Director and has over 20 years experience in the design and advertising industry. He leads a team of creative professionals who service an impressive list of local, national and international clients. www.imagic.co.nz

Steve Martin
Steve has thriteen years of experience in the design industry, the majority within the online medium. He is currently Creative Director at Terabyte, a company that has gained various Webby, Best Award nominations and Top Ratings for a number of projects including Te Papa Museum of New Zealand, Volcanoes Exhibition (Auckland Museum), Maori Showbands (Te Papa’s first online exhibition), HSBC Global Education Challenge and various others. Steve's wide range of experience has included working for Conde Nast Publications in the United Kingdom as Art Director for the online sites of British Vogue, GQ, Glamour, CN Traveller and Vanity Fair. Steve is also involved with a number of educational institutes helping in the development of online studies including Fellowship awards to promising students. Steve has also gained recognition in Traditional Animation and Graphic Design and holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Communication Design from Central St Martins College of Art and Design in London. www.terabyte.co.nz

Joan Grace
Joan Grace is CEO of the print industry trade association (PrintNZ) and the industry training organisation (Communications and Media ITO). Joan’s background includes many years of working on policy development in the tertiary education sector of the government and prior to that, tutoring business studies at a polytechnic level. Today Joan oversees both organisations in a technology-driven and evolving industry. PrintNZ provides a wide range of services to 700 members nationwide. Services include negotiation, compliance advice, events and industry data.

The Communications and Media ITO (which incorporates PrintNZ Training and the NZ Journalists Training Organisation) provides training to over 600 apprentices and trainees in the print, packaging and journalism industries. Wil McLellan
Wil is a business professional with over a decade of experience in the technology industry. Through his work for global companies such as EDS GFS UK and Fujitsu NZ Wil was responsible for both winning and delivering multimillion dollar projects whilst managing new and experienced sales teams.

Through the establishment of Stickmen Studios, Wil has forged a highly skilled and motivated team, and validated its principles and ideas on games industry experts. The studios first WiiWare title “Dragon Master Spell Caster” launched the Christchurch studio into the global marketplace, where Wil is focussed upon establishing a brand recognised for quality and innovation. www.stickmenstudios.co.nz
