NET Programme
Natcoll’s education trust supports the provision of educational programmes for schools in Canterbury. The “NET programme” is free and is designed to support the use of ICT in the classroom through collaborative classroom projects. Our teacher designs the programme around the school’s and children’s needs and curriculum objectives, and does the teaching with support from the classroom teacher. It is expected that some classroom teaching would be undertaken by the school to support the project. Projects run for half a term, one day per week, each Monday from 9:30am to 2:30pm.
Natcoll provides a teacher who will lead the class programme and do the teaching, along with a fully equipped lab for a maximum of 10 students. iMacs, digital cameras and video cameras are used. Software available includes iLife (iMovie, iWeb, Garageband, iPhoto, iTunes, iDVD), and Photoshop. Internet-based projects will also make use of the latest web 2.0 tools available online.
All Curriculum Learning Areas are relevant in the programme, with Values and Key Competencies featuring strongly throughout the creative challenges the students are given.
