Design for Web
This course is designed for students who are proficient with the use of a computer and software applications such as Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. This course presents introductions to many of the basic concepts, issues and techniques related to designing, developing and deploying web standard websites. The course also covers the fundamental concepts necessary for the construction of web pages using the basic building blocks of Hypertext Markup Language (HTML), Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), basic JavaScript and Dynamic HTML.
HTML and XHTML are covered in detail for building web pages using a web page development environment with an emphasis on client-side technologies. During the course, students will learn about Web design and how to critically evaluate website quality, learn how to create and maintain quality web pages, learn about web design standards and why they're important, and learn to create and manipulate images. The course progresses from introductory work on web design to a culminating project in which students design and develop their own website.
